WORKPLACE HARASSMENT

DEAR MS. G:

My supervisor has an issue with me and I don’t know why. I’m being harassed. It’s covert right now, but I already see them turning other coworkers against me. It’s a lot of pressure and I don’t want to be caught off guard. What do the cards say? I’m all ears!

DEAR JOHNNY:

Your supervisor is showing up as a married woman who is struggling with personal issues that have nothing to do with the workplace. She doesn’t understand how you can afford the things you have (the very pretty partner, the nice car, etc.). None of this was an issue until her finances became constrained. Unfortunately, money problems can bring out the worst in people. Moving forward, you know to deal with her with a long-handled spoon. You now see what she is capable of when things aren’t going her way.

Speaking of “moving forward”, that’s exactly what you will do. While this is an uncomfortable situation, it does blow over, so be cool. In about six weeks, you will be on a roll in your career. There is both promotion and financial increase, here. Funny enough, this same supervisor puts in a good word for you to secure the new position. Talk about the difference a day makes!

Sometimes we have to be the bigger person and think for others. There is some serious emotional instability present (with the supervisor). Give her grace for now. Things look good moving forward. Don’t spend all of your increase! You will need to plan to expand your family soon. Buckle up! Hope this helps.
